The latest Victims are 9 members of the Oromo Federalist Congress,

As expected the kangaroo court has passed 'terrorism' verdict against another set of Oromo political prisoners . The latest Victims are 9 members of the Oromo Federalist Congress, including senior leaders Bekele Garba and Olbana Lellisa. When the judge gave Mr Bekele Garba chance to seek reduction of sentence, Bekele reportedly said " In my entire life I fought for justice, democracy and equality, I have opposed discrimination. I was born Oromo not by my choice but of Gods will. I have am proud of waging nonviolent struggle to achieve democratic rights and respect the human rights and equal treatment of of the Oromo people. Therefore I have nothing to apologize to this court. If I have to apologize, it would be to my people, for failing to adequately disclose the magnitude of discrimination abuse committed against them on daily bases "

After this speech the judge prevented the rest of the prisoners from speaking and hurled them back to jail.

I
t is to be remembered that these political prisoners were arrested for helping Amnesty International investigate human rights abuse in Oromia. They were initially accused of treason but later changed to 'terrorism'.

There are already 25,000-30,000 Oromo political prisoners languishing in various Ethiopian jails
